About Us

Welcome to our website in which we hope to give you a good understanding of how our team work closely together with you, the parent, to help develop your child's language, literacy, personal, social and numeric skills in a stimulating environment.

We have been established since 1995 - we are a children's day care nursery open to all children between the ages of 2 and 8 years offering full day care as well as individual sessions, which you can select from.

We have our own self contained building situated in a quiet residential area, we are not near any main "A" roads or railway tracks. We are registered to provide care for up to a maximum of 26 children at any one time. This number means that we can pay your child the care and attention they deserve and you will receive value for money.

Our nursery is one of the oldest established independent nurseries in Stowmarket and we have worked hard over the years to develop and maintain our reputation - we know that we are not perfect, but we strive to get as close to being so as we can.

We pride ourselves on the standard of the service we provide and whilst we are the first to admit that the outside of our building is not the most attractive, we do feel that we more than make up for this once you walk through the front door.

We are a registered nursery for Early Years Education Grant's (If the Government is happy to fund part of the costs for your child's nursery care then why not take full advantage of this) - grants are normally available for children aged 3 to 4 years and our staff know all about this and may help you apply for your entitlement.

Our aim here at Poppys, is to ensure that your child is left in safe hands with a team of qualified staff and that your child enjoys the experience of coming to our nursery sessions, and that we help them develop the skills necessary to prepare them for "Big School". We think that we have created the right environment for this to happen!

On joining our nursery, your child will be introduced to a member of our staff who will be their "key member of staff". Your child will then be observed to enable us to assess their existing skills and abilities. Our observations are then recorded by way of an initial child profile which we will discuss with you, to ensure that we are in agreement. We will then implement play and other activities within our nursery to develop your child's skills and abilities through their learning journey.

We revise our assessments as your child develops ensuring that they exceed the goals set out in the "early years" framework - all of this is documented for you to read.

We hold "Parents evenings" every year where you will have the opportunity to discuss your child's development with a designated member of our staff. Naturally, if you have any concerns or wish to discuss your child's development at any other time, our nursery manager would be pleased to discuss these with you.

We would welcome the opportunity to help with the development of your child and for them to enjoy the Poppys experience.

We are proud of our nursery and welcome you to visit us (by appointment for security reasons) to view our facilities and to observe some of our sessions. We know that you have a very important decision to make - but we can make it easier for you! We believe that "a happy child makes a happy parent".

We are confident that both you and your child will enjoy the experience!
