Baby Room

We are delighted to offer quality care in our newly opened under two's area. Poppy Seeds opened in September 2012 and has space for a maximum of six children aged 6 months to two years.

Poppys Seeds is separated from the main area with low level walls and an arch gateway entrance. Statutory ratios states that there should be one member of staff to every 3 children aged between 0 and 2. We offer smaller ratios to ensure we are offering the best quality care we can. Our staff are all fully qualified to at least level 3 in childcare and all have a minimum of three years' experience working with children.

We aim to create a welcoming, homely and stimulating environment nurturing your child's development and meeting each individual needs. At Poppys seeds we focus on providing childcare in a safe and friendly environment. We can provide flexible session times to meet your childcare requirements.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the statutory framework that sets the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for each transition as they grow and develop and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The revised, simpler framework for the EYFS was published on 27 March 2012, for implementation from 1 September 2012.

Each Child will have their own individual Learning Journey, which will be made up of various observations and the next steps for the children to work towards. These are adapted for each age range and individual abilities. The learning Journey also aims to include parent/carer views of how their child is doing. Pages out of the Learning Journey will be regularly sent home for the parents to complete and return to nursery.

Every child is allocated their own Key Person; it is the responsibility of this Key Person to ensure that the parents are regularly kept up to date with how their child is doing. It will also be the Key Person to whom parents need to speak should they have any questions or queries about their child's Learning Journey. We have a paired and shared key person system as there are two regular members of staff in the baby room every day. This means they will both get to know all of the children in their care.

The children will also have their own contact book which will be completed every session that they attend. This will provide valuable information relating to your child and the time they have spent with us.

We pride ourselves in helping your children reach their full potential by providing educational activities to explore and enjoy with the support of familiar staff to bond and build close relationships with.
